Hidden Coastal House

A run down 1960's coastal bungalow, used by the extended family for decades was demolished and replaced by this stunning Eco House, that is sustainable, adaptable and welcoming. From the damp, impossible to heat house with an EPC "G" rating, to the low-cost luxury of this tucked away contemporary design with an EPC "A" rating, it was a clear investment in the future for the family and the planet.

The sensitive costal location, surrounded by National Trust farmland needed a careful approach from the architects who kept the textures and colours subdued and natural and tucked it carefully into this hidden valley on this Jurassic Dorset coast.

This is no box, having sensual curves and a play of shallow angles that give it interesting elevations and wonderful interior spaces, for large gatherings or intermit cosy weekends.

Natural local stonework provided by skilled masons as well a traditional modern self-coloured lime render and pre-weathered larch cladding, all add to this very special setting.

Airy light interiors all look to the green fields outside and cosy intimate bedrooms have shaded private woodland verandas and views, and all flow together as you walk around in this calm inside space.
